01 · TIME

Course-adjusted moving time

Your chosen effort (35–90% of heart-rate reserve) sets a sustainable flat speed — walking or running, whichever is faster. Each 100 m of climb or 400 m of descent adds one flat-kilometre equivalent, and a Riegel-style factor slows longer races. Aid stations, altitude, heat and technical ground are not modeled.

02 · FUEL

Fueling follows time, not calories

Total carbs = your hourly target (60, 90 or 120 g/h) × estimated moving time — never calories burned. 60 g/h works with any carb source; 90–120 g/h needs a glucose+fructose blend (2:1 to 1:0.8) and a trained gut, and the calculator flags targets above the guideline for your event's duration.
